Tactical Secrecies of Business – A Chess Strategy

Chess, a most tactical game with the mishmash of different kind of strategies that bear a resemblance of warfare. The game that fascinates me a lot for its intentions of every move and the strategies executed to break the tactics of opponent. Also, as a proprietor of a business and reader of business strategy oriented books, I was colliding by a lot of likenesses stuck between chess and business.

The key idea to win at chess is Position Analysis that is to understand the position and acclimate to both on-going and unforeseen changes. At the same time it is also essential to understand the competitor and his individualities and trends.

Thus it is aptly meant for business, before formulating the plan of how to deal with in the marketplace of your business, it is undeniably important to be aware of that zone without a glitch. This implicates the understanding of the strong points and shortfalls of the company, catching out the true competitor, their fortes and weaknesses, finding the best market characteristics that stick out, and other sorts of market analysis that will lend a hand in business success.

The next subsequent factor that chess player needs to have is knowing about the opponent and evaluating him as a human being empowers one's own stratagem with better precision. In chess, it is a basic gen to hit the challenger at his feeblest point with focused competence. One must have this knack of understanding the opponent’s intentions to be successful as a chess player.

For example, we can consider HP’s philosophy; to stay ahead of the competition in printers is to perform defensive moves to brand its own products outmoded. Originating value-added products with new features that substitute quiet popular products lets them to constantly take hold of the top even as the technology ground causes it to swing.

If a business initiates to expand to preserve their position, resources become burdened and ultimately the mechanism instigates to failure. In chess, we realize the endangerment of having overloaded pieces which footing the position together by a mere drift.  Once that shielding piece proceeds a straight knockout, the position flops, such is also factual in business.

The very most important thing is, in chess, you should not let your opponent to understand or realize about your next move. In other case, not making the move that is most foreseen by your opponent. If you do it means, you are going to lose your most important piece on their next move. So it is in business: One does not get to the top by running through to convention. When your opponent can certainly expect each move you make, your strategy weakens and becomes commoditized.

As said by Chernev, “Every Chess master was once a beginner”. Likewise every giant business owner was once a small business owner. It’s the strategies which we make it on our business crafts us to succeed or let-down. A small business needs more strategy, planning, focus and hard work, so as to win. It also has to possess qualities of determination and endurances with many difficulties to cross.

At all times remember that you have to think like a chess player and look into the prospects by expecting what the market desires and what your competitors might prepare. When you do you will obtain great achievement and success the business game.
